All Other Signs of Spring

About 6:30 a.m. I was standing at the back door and to my delight I saw a male scarlet tanager in the mimosa tree. Two days prior to that I had seen an interesting female and thought it was an orchard oriole. Now I know it was the female scarlet tanager. Apparently her warbling paved the way for her mate to find her. I've not seen either one for the last day. I hope they have continued their long journey north to raise a new family if they aren't going to stay here.
