First adult sight in 2013!
6/20/13 (Oceanville, NJ)
Observed single female Monarch nectaring for an hour, but no egg-laying activity.
6/23/13 (Medford Lakes, NJ)
Four adults sighted on milkweed flowers. No eggs or caterpillars to report. I am reporting the 4 additional Monarchs because of the conspicuous absence due to unexplained delayed migration to the Northeast. This observation provides context that the Monarchs are now advancing into New Jersey and the fact that I spent two hours observing a milkweed patch. I visit about 10 sites 2-4 times per week. The Edwin B. Forsythe location is the only one where I observed Monarchs adults. Not even eggs or caterpillars were found at the other sites.
