The bird was JET black, and it looked like the markings (which were a very bright, scarlet red) were on the cheeks rather than the wings (but the bird was in-flight, so it was hard to tell). It was bi-colored, lacking in any of the standard yellow markings you'd find on the wings of a red-winged blackbird.
