Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/03/2013

Number: 1

I saw an adult monarch nectaring on some Coreopsis lanceolata ("Lance-leaved Coreopsis")in my Prairie/Savannah landscaped front yard, next to my driveway, and front deck/porch. This Monarch was probably migrating still, as it seemed to be feeding quite steadily, and finally it flew off to somewhere else in my yard- but I got one good photograph, so I left it alone to do what it must do;- but this is the first one I have seen this year, to date.
I have only seen a couple of bees so far, and I'm very worried about the future of many of the Native bee species! It's very sad to see what people have already done to destroy so many Native species!
