Bald Eagle

Date: 06/05/2013

Number: 1

There is a well known nest at the Harmar end of the Hulton Bridge. The nest belonged to Red Tail hawks until this spring when two eagles decided they would like to take it over. One of them is still immature so no eggs this year. Today shortly before 7pm I saw what I thought was a hawk and a small bird bothering it in mid air near the nest, however, it was the eagle and the hawk. We pulled over in a lot on freeport road just short of the bridge and high up above the nest the hawks and eagles were going at it. The eagle upside down engaging hawk was an awesome sight in person. The way the hawk would dive in a stream line towards the eagle was also something. I just couldn't get over the size difference between the hawk and eagle.
