While bird watching with a friend, we observed a Monarch Butterfly flying around and nectering on many yellow Winter Cress (a mustard) plants. We could not get close enough to see gender. Temperature was 62F. and sunny with wind N-5. The weather the last few days has been cooler than normal with rain showers on and off. This seems to be the average arrival time although the last two years a monarch has been seen earlier in the year.
