We found an American Robin nesting on a 9 ft column on our front porch on 5/8/13. I believe she was just beginning to lay her first eggs. Not sure how many eggs were laid in the clutch, but three birds fledged. A helper bird and the mate helped the mother feed the young. They grew very fast from nestlings to fledglings; within two weeks we found them to be fully feathered and occupying much more of the nest than before. The baby birds laid huddled together most of the time eagerly waiting for food. The flock stayed in the tree in our front yard for a week to learn to fly as the mother and her mate continued to feed them. We watched them mate again the following week (three days ago) and she is back in the nest with two eggs laid as of today. 06/15/13
