Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/19/2013

Number: 1

I finally spotted my first monarch butterfly of the season, a full six weeks later than 2011 and 2012. She was a beautiful, faded female, and she spent the afternoon floating around my backyard enjoying all the various milkweed I have in bloom. My common milkweed smells so heavenly that I knew if there was a monarch nearby, it would find it's way to my yard. I did find 3 eggs on my swamp milkweed, but did not observe her laying them.
