Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/22/2013

Number: 1

On a Toronto Entomologists' Association Field Trip, we were visiting Conestogo Lake Conservation Area to look for butterflies and other insects. A large strongly-coloured but somewhat worn female monarch sailed by and landed on a milkweed plant. She laid an egg near the flower buds before moving on to nearby cow vetch blossomes to stock up on nectar.
This is fairly late to see my first monarch, but I have had later records.
