Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/29/2013

Number: 1

Greetings from Virginia's Eastern Shore! Saw one lone monarch today at our local garden center about a mile north of my house. I am thinking that perhaps it may have been a female looking for milkweed, because flight was rapid and erratic...no stopping for nectaring, and there were plenty of flowers everywhere. This butterfly also looked a bit faded, but was flying so rapidly it was difficult to see details! It never stopped at all while I was watching. Anyway...at last I can report a sighting! I have lots and lots of milkweed here in my yard, so I'll just continue to wait! Lots of nectaring flowers, too...so come on, Monarchs!
