Number: 1

Three of four male monarchs seen patrolling clumps of shade trees and low
growing shrubs in the late afternoon on a hot day at three different locations along
Dressler Ln in Gardnerville, Nevada June 30, 2013. Asclepias speciosa
milkweed plants grow in scattered clumps along the farm irrigation ditches that parallel Dressler Ln. Because of the 90+ degree heat the males were patrolling semi-shady areas where female monarchs might also be expected to be on a hot and somewhat windy day.
