I have been watching for Monarchs to visit our backyard milkweed. They have been elusive here in Missouri...except for a few sighted while driving. I was excited this morning when I went to the garden to pick a tomato and spotted this female. She was small in size and of faded color. I observed her laying her eggs on the tender leaves and on the milkweed blossom itself. The temperature was about 80 degrees and sunny weather. She stayed for abut an hour.
