It has been a very bad year so far. But today I saw my first eggs in nearly a month. The first ones were victims of a ten minute hail storm.
And wonder of wonders, I also saw my first caterpillar today, a third instar, I believe.
Will enter that sighting in the larvae section.
Milkweed is terrific here, but we need lots of monarchs to show up with mating and egg laying on their mind............
So far, I've only seen a dozen or so monarchs since late May.
