Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/14/2013

Number: 1

One monarch flying rapidly through the butterfly garden at Adams Farm, not landing on any of the nectar sources. It would then go out into the field along the milkweed patches and return to the BFG. Assume it was a male, perhaps the one that mated on the 11th, patrolling for females. Did not get close enough to take a photo or sex it. Since the first of June this makes 6 definite monarchs, two possible. I consider myself lucky to have seen so many, given the dearth of sightings across North America to date.
