Finally I sighted a female nectaring in my yard, but no egg laying. I netted her and checked to see if she was gravid (pregnant). She wasn't. Females are having trouble finding mates this year. The small batch of larvae that I raised had 4 females and one male. Another friend who raised one had only one female.
