Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/15/2013

Number: 1

I was outside in my butterfly garden when I saw a huge, healthy looking monarch sitting on a hosta flower. It was definately a monarch and the first definite sighting I've had. I thought about a week ago that I had seen another but couldn't be sure so never reported it. This one I was sure of. I didn't have enough time to see if it was male or female as it flew off and up near the eves of my house and then went around the corner. We have lots of nectar plants and milkweed here but did a quick check and no sign of eggs or hovering monarchs nearby.
