We have a milkweed patch not far from us where we have spotted only one to two monarchs at a time since July 11th. On July 11th we found two monarch caterpillars which we are currently raising as we are members of MonarchWatch.org. Unfortunately this milkweed field is teeming with tachnid flies, assassin bugs, wasps, and all the critters that can hurt monarch caterpillars as well so when we find caterpillars, we "snag" them. We had some sick andinfested caterpillars from this field last year...I wish monarchs could read so I could put up a sign that says "Monarchs!! Danger!!!Lay your eggs elsewhere!!"
Today, July 15th we found two more caterpillars and saw a mating pair of monarchs!!! No eggs though....
