Stopped at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff on the way home. A huge storm was brewing with lightning flashing and rain slapping the truck. I just had to see if the milkweed was up - it was. There were two male monarchs nectaring on Horsetail Milkweed, Asclepias subverticillata, oblivious to the rain just moving in. They flew for shelter shortly after. No larvae spotted. A. subverticillata in bloom throughout the area. Last year monarchs were not seen at this location in mid-July, so this is early.
