Monarchs at last. Today at 5:30 PM at Sweet Briar College I saw a very fresh mating pair of monarchs. The female was small. The male was nectaring on Buddleija. We have a large experimental Buddleia garden and there were many swallotails nectaring, This is the first monarch I have seen in our area all spring. Still have not seen any at our Roseland home in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
