Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/19/2013

Number: 1

Monarch was flying near the 402 at Colonel Talbot Rd. in Lambeth. It was actually my husband's sighting (he saw two more a couple of days ago) and I've yet to see one! I'm aware of the sightings being vastly lower this year than this time last year and assumed that every first sighting counts. My daughter and I usually begin checking the milkweed in late June, and by this point we usually have several caterpillars that we're raising and feeding. We've yet to find a single egg or caterpillar, and neither one of us has seen an adult monarch! I was starting to worry that somehow their population had completely depleted until my husband came home the other day to say he'd seen that one in Lambeth.
