I have 10 butterfly milkweed in bloom along with a yard full of flowers. The monarch came into the yard and spent a while going to various butterfly milkweed plants. It was very active and hard to pin down the sex. I am guessing it was a female, but i didn't observe any egg laying. After a maybe 5 to 10 min. it left and I have not seen it again.
This is only the 2nd Monarch i have seen this year. It was April the last i saw one across the street in the park.
