After checking milkweed plants in my yard for a over a month, finally found my first sign of a monarch visit....two second instars on a four foot high milkweed plants in my front yard. The milkweed has been flowering for weeks and is lush and green. Lots of milkweed everywhere growing fast and tall with all the rain we have experienced this spring/summer but very few monarchs around to take advantage of such an excellent crop!
