Yesterday (28 July) I had the first monarch of the year in my garden. A fresh female, but she was flitting around all over the place like a male and when I went and checked some nice fresh milkweed I have been weed eating around, I found no eggs. I'm wondering if she has not yet encountered a male, which I understand from DPLEX postings has been a problem this year.

Ours was spotted nectaring on Verbena at 7:15PM, a small very fresh female. We had seen no signs of monarchs here at home until this one...the gardens and milkweeds are lush so those are not the limiting factors.
