Interesting coincidence: Yesterday ( 28 July 2013) Elizabeth Hunter saw her first monarch this season in Bakersvill, NC, and so did we here in VA. Ours was spotted nectaring on Verbena at 7:15PM, a small very fresh female. We had seen no signs of monarchs here at home until this one...the gardens and milkweeds are lush so those are not the limiting factors.
