Two adult monarchs mating this morning. Very few monarchs noted thus far, last year's drought & extreme heat has taken a tremendous toll on ALL butterflies on my farm.

This week I hiked trails at Shaw Nature Reserve in Grey Summit, MO, a native prairie restoration preserve. Vast acreage of native flowers and milkweed in full bloom and VERY FEW butterflies, NO monarchs. Extremely sad.
