Today the monarch emerged from its chrysalis and I placed it on and echinacea blossom outside along with the "shell" of the chrysalis. It is hanging on to the plant as its wings "get ready". I found the egg on our crop of milkweed around July 1st and brought it inside to raise so my granddaughter could experience the metamorphosis.
