Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/31/2013

Number: 1

I watched this single Monarch yesterday afternoon. It was nectaring on my Gregg's mist flowers.. (a flower greatly enjoyed this time of year by queen butterflies in my garden.) A queen butterfly kept running this Monarch off the flowers.. A few minutes later, it would circle back and try again, with the same result of being chased away. I haven't checked today.. Very ODD to see a Monarch this time of year in my garden. I have a lot of blooming milkweed in my garden. It's odd that it is blooming here now. Usually it blooms after September.
