Date: 08/01/2013

This week we have been seeing one or two monarchs during the time we work in the butterfly gardens in Monona. Wednesday, we found 3 caterpillars, 2 on common milkweed and 1 on swamp milkweed plants. The monarchs we saw today were female, one very old and tattered, they were not nectaring but no eggs were found. Monarch numbers are low this year but up from the past 2 years.
