Saw one female Monarch butterfly nectaring on flowers in our gardens and in the back yard on a Butterfly Bush; late afternoon; beautiful sunny day in the 80s. SO happy to have a Monarch butterfly visiting us, especially this summer when they are so rare. I watched her for ~ 10 minutes every hour for ~3 hours before I had to leave for an appointment. Some scales were worn off on the underside of her left forewing, but overall she looked great and flew strong. No sign of egg-laying, only nectaring on common milkweed and other flowers. I'll check the milkweed plants for eggs over the next few days.... I can hope :)!
