Number: 3

I hatched out my first butterfly this summer and the female was released at rural Tyrone, PA today, hatching at 9 a.m. and released at 11:30 a.m.

I arrived home and at 4 p.m., I spotted in rural Williamsburg, a couple mating in my maple tree. I snapped several photos. It is hopeful that I can hatch more than one butterfly this year! I had about 100 last year, and caterpillars are so rare here this year!

Is it true that there is only 1 acres of woodlands remaining at the hiberation location in Mexico. I heard that poachers cut the forests down leaving only 1 acrea for their protection. Can this be the huge cause for the decline in butterflies? My first butterfly of the season was so pale and sick looking, and the orange was so pale and abnormal. Today, this pair and the female I hatched and released looked very healthy! So glad to be a part of this miracle!
