On this date I found a well developed Monarch caterpillar on a small wild milkweed plant. Over the next few days, I found 4 more monarch caterpillars on larger milkweed plants in another area of the garden. I would estimate these caterpillars are in one of the last instars before becoming chrysalises. Now I know there are at least 5 larva in our yard.
