We planted 3 milkweed plants 3 years ago and the plants have spread from 3 to 35 to 40 in the back yard and now have spread to 35 to 50 in the front yard. However, in the past 3 years we have seen quite a few Monarchs and their eggs but this year no eggs and only 3 monarchs. Some wierd red bug has been on the milkweed plants and I am wondering if that has anything to do with no eggs. Would you please advise? Still very disappointing to only see 3 Monarchs all summer. Seventeen years ago I saw, I am sure more than a thousand land in a tree outside our window and fold their wings to go unseen for the night. What a beautiful site, glorious...
