I have at least 10 Monarch butterflies in my yard all day, every day. I also have many Monarch caterpillars (32 are visible without looking under leaves) and chrysalises. I have 17 milkweed plants and lots of butterfly-friendly plants. I found that if I remove the seed pod before it's developed the cottony parts (I keep the green pods on because the caterpillars will eat them), the plants keep growing leaves and it discourages the milkweed bugs from breeding.
