I did not see any monarchs this summer until around the third week of July - really late!
And then there was only one. It laid a bunch of eggs on our milkweed plants which we gathered, hatched, raised and released.

Now we have another batch from a different couple of monarchs. Some have emerged and been released, some are chrysalises, and 4 are still caterpillars, about to hang from the top of the habitat. We will have released about 25 or 26 monarchs this year.
