While canoeing on the Saugeen River near Southampton/Port Elgin, ON we spotted 6 monarchs. Perfect day, 31 celcius with a south/west breeze. We later saw 2 monarchs in our area, Kemble, north of Owen Sound, ON. We speculate they are migrating through from Manitoulin Island. In the past we have seen large roostings in these areas, but this year has been remarkably sparse all around. (my year tally is up to 20 now)
