As my husband and I were enjoying our morning coffee on our front porch, a hummingbird stopped mid-air about 8 feet over our heads and seemed to watch us for about 5 seconds before flying away. I didn't notice any red coloring, just dark, and it appeared to be a little larger than most hummingbirds I've seen before. Our bench was near a flame acanthus and a vitex tree, but we didn't notice where it came from or went when it flew away.
