I stopped by Tohono Chul greenhouse/nursery. While talking with a worker, I saw what looked like a monarch flying high overhead. Many queens, and gulf fritillaries by passion vine so I wanted to be sure. Walked towards Tea Room, and monarch conveniently perched inches away on bird of paradise, so I saw that 1/ in really great shape, 2/female. Moments later it perched on a mesquite sapling, then chased away a much smaller queen. (Reported to Southwest Monarch Study)
