Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/18/2013

Number: 1

First siting this year! Monarch was flying all around very nervious like. Finally after about 3 or 4 minutes, it landed on a zinnia leaf. I was able to take a picture but it flew off and seemed very nervous. Landed in an Ash tree, was able to sneak up and take another photo. It took off and flew around the yard for another minute or so and landed in the Hollywood Juniper tree. It was high up but was able to take another photo of it. After that, it disappeared. We have hundreds of zinnias planted and it never landed on one. Only the leaf of the plant. Was it not hungry? It seemed very nervous and flighty. Just all over the place. But it was wonderful to spot one this year. Thank you!
