Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/25/2013

Number: 1

I was visited by a single female Rubythroat during the mid morning. When I first spotted her it looked like she was playing in the yard sprinkler, darting back and forth through the spray. She stopped and flew over to check one of my Flame Acanthus plants for flowers before zipping up to one of my feeders. I was astonished that she came to the feeder as I was standing no more than two feet from it. The feeder was empty so she resumed her search and found Autumn Sage and some Flame Acanthus in bloom. The feeder was promptly filled afterwards.
