She was in excellent condition, headed south, nectaring on the butterfly bushes, ignoring the milkweed ( which I keep cutting back to push fresh growth). This is the FIRST and ONLY monarch I have seen all season! Yesterday we had another bright orange butterfly, but closer inspection proved it was positively a Viceroy. It was also the first and only of the season.
