I am very sad about what is happening here in Down East Maine. I have driven many miles in a 100 mile radius and have seen no monarch butterflies this summer. None!!!! I have milkweed plants and have looked at milkweed plants in other places and there are no caterpillars. Seems like none of last years monarchs had offspring that returned here after second and third generations born in lower Maine. I hope this is not sad situation everywhere. I am afraid I will not be tagging any monarchs this year. I hope I am not seeing the extinction of the monarchs here in Down East Maine!!! Karen Holmes in Cooper, ME
