They have been feeding on blazing star and iron weed, as well as swamp milkweed and some joe pie weed for about a week now in the yard here in downtown Eau Claire. 7 is the most I have seen at once so far this summer. They are most interested in the liatris at this time, and secondly in the iron weed. The new England asters are not in bloom yet, and in other years migrants coming through the latest rely on the asters. The area they are feeding in is about 2o square feet and very densely planted.
