On Tuesday 8/27/13 I counted 15 hummingbirds in the area of our two feeders. There were 5 identifiable males. On 8/30/13 I saw no males and only 3 or 4 females. It has been a strange year. There were only transient hummingbirds through May and June. When our residents arrived in the middle of June (at least a month later than usual)there were at least 10 that we could identify at once. This week we had more and today August 31, we have not seen or heard one. It is early for them to depart. We will keep watch.
