Well, we are really not having much excitement with monarchs here on Virginia's Eastern Shore so far! By this time, I usually have had so many...but I have only had 1 adult in the yard nectaring about 2 weeks ago, seen 1 on Cedar Island resting on the sand and fighting the wind from the ocean, and 1 at a local garden center. My milkweed is no good now, but I still have plenty of nectaring plants: zinnias, Brazilian verbena, butterfly bush, goldenrod, and lantana! Sure have missed them, but hopefully we'll see them later as they arrive here from Cape May and other points north. We have missed them so much!
