Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/03/2013

Number: 2

Spotted two Hummingbirds in my yard and I have not seen any during this past summer. I do not know what kind they are, I speculate they are females due to their lack of color or are young juveniles. I tried to find them in my bird books and can only compare them to the color and size of the Broad-tailed female hummingbird on page 568 ofThe Audubon Society Field Guide To North American Birds- Western Region, with the photograph # 402. They are busily snacking on my flowers and resting on perches within a distance of a couple of feet not shy of people or pets.As if they are just as curious of us as we are of them.Very cute creatures and are glad they stopped by for a visit, as our yard at this time of year is full of busy migratory birds and butterflies!
