Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/03/2013

Number: 1

Found a beautiful, large Monarch chrysalis hanging from the underside of a leaf on a large Common Milkweed plant. The field where I found it has 60-70 Common Milkweed plants, and is where I also found one egg, a 2nd instar cat, and a 3rd instar cat today. The field had been mowed earlier in the season, and left (thankfully) untouched after that. Grateful that it and nearby fields scattered throughout a new housing development provided some habitat to create another Monarch generation.
Brought the lovely green jewel home to eclose in safety. I can only think of one other time, many years ago, when I found a Monarch chrysalis on a milkweed leaf.
