We had more hummingbirds this year than we have EVER seen before... seemed after a somewhat late arrival they appear to have left early to make up for it, for the most part. After several days cooler than usual for Virginia in August the massive numbers I was seeing at my 6-8 feeders virtually disappeared over a couple of days... we were seeing more than 20 birds at a time squabbling over the feeders, impossible to count at times! What a void when they go..now seeing 2-3 females remaining, the males seem to have left yesterday or the day before.
