Joyous event! At 11:30 today I observed roughly 12 adult monarchs nectaring on Meadow Blazing Star in an 8-foot boulevard garden of native plants on my urban street! Prior to this, I had only seen two monarchs all summer. Several were clustered on the same stem while others fluttered around. An hour later I walked past again (this was on a dog walk) and now the number was up to about 16! We startled them into a flutter but they soon settled down again to nectar. It was amazing after such a dearth of sightings. This appears to be the preferred garden, even though I have some of the same plants 1 block away. Go monarchs!
