Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/04/2013

Number: 10

Since planting milkweed a few months ago, we have seen several monarchs in our garden every day. I'm estimating 10 and listed 3 hours because that is usually how long we're outside working or I'm in the front of the house cleaning.

Three weeks ago, August 14th we saw a monarch caterpillar on one of the milkweed plants. Unfortunately, when we looked the next day we didn't see it. We were very disappointed because we were hoping to see/take pictures of the chrysalis.

I am working with the science team at Sigsbee Charter School in Key West, Florida and hoping to bring "Journey North" citizen science projects into the science curriculum.
