I have been seeing both males and females all week at the feeder in my yard. They are really going after the nectar, which I have begun making myself so as to avoid giving them artificial colors and sweeteners! I love these little birds! Just in the past week, they have begun turning from the feeder to face me directly, flying at times within just inches of my face. I am curious about this behavior. I will miss them when they leave as they have provided many hours of enjoyment. The attached photo was taken a few weeks ago, before I started making my own nectar.
